The CDU UK represents the foreign Chapter of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), one of Germany’s main political parties and the current governing party, in the United Kingdom. It provides a forum for members, supporters, and German expatriates living in the UK to engage with the party’s values and policies, while also maintaining connections with political, social, and business developments in Germany.

We believe in a strong Europe, liberal economies and safe borders – that is the essence of German conservatism.

As such, we aim to strengthen German-British relations by fostering dialogue between Germans living in the UK and British partners. We provide opportunities for exchange on European and global affairs and offer insights into German political processes. Through these activities, the CDU UK contributes to cooperation between Germany and the UK, as well as representing German interests in bilateral relations.

A central part of the Chapter’s work is our events programme. This includes regular informal meetings, our monthly Stammtisch, panel discussions, and collaborative initiatives with partner organisations. These provide a platform for participants to discuss topics such as economic policy, European cooperation, and transnational issues, and to engage directly with experts and decision-makers from both countries.

Supporting the work of the CDU and the German federal government in the UK forms another aspect of the Chapter’s role. By providing information, facilitating dialogue, and maintaining an active presence, the Chapter contributes to building understanding of German policy and perspectives in a constructive and open manner.

The German British Business Summit presents an important opportunity for the CDU UK to engage with a broader audience of business leaders, policymakers, and civil society representatives. It offers a space for discussing bilateral challenges and opportunities, helping to link political, economic, and social perspectives of both countries.
